Netcool Tivoli Security Operations Manager Training

This training consists of 3 courses over a period of 5 days. Day 1, the User course, covers the principles of Security Information Management with TSOM, and the TSOM GUI. Days 2 and 3, the Systems Administrator course, cover installation and configuration of TSOM, including the installation of the underlying Red Hat Enterprise Linux platform. Days 4 and 5, the Advanced Systems Administrator course, cover advanced configuration and troubleshooting of TSOM, and also installation and configuration of the reporting client, Jreport.

Objectives / Certifications

The User course is intended for Level 1 Security Analysts, who will use Netcool TSOM to identify and track security threats.

The Systems Administrator course is intended for Systems Administrators whose role involves installation and configuration of TSOM, and also for Level 2 Security Analysts, who require a deeper understanding of how the product is configured.

The Advanced Systems Administrator course is for the Systems Administrator, or other individual who has responsibility for ensuring the correct operation of TSOM on a day-to-day basis.

Certification for this product is currently under development.

Daily Schedule

Day 1: Introduction, Security Concepts, TSOM Concepts, Identifying Threats
Day 2: Installation and Configuration of Red Hat Enterprise Linux, Installation of Netcool TSOM
Day 3: TSOM Configuration
Day 4: Troubleshooting TSOM, How TSOM Works, Adding New Supported Devices
Day 5: Installation and Configuration of JReport Designer, Creation of a Sample Report

Prerequisites

• UNIX experience essential for Systems Administrator and Advanced Systems Administrator courses.
• Basic knowledge of Security concepts beneficial
