Netcool Precision Training
Eirteic offer 2 weeklong courses for the Netcool/Precision product. The Fundamentals course provides an understanding of the key product components, including its integtration with Netcool/OMNIbus and Netcool/Webtop. It also covers Root Cause Analysis and Netcool/Precision Pollers from an Operator's perspective.
The Advanced course goes one level deeper than the Fundamentals course, covering how particular features work, such as the Event Processing (RCA) Engine and the Precision Pollers.
Objectives / Certifications
The Fundamentals course is intended to cover the installation and integration of Netcool/Precision and the discovery of an IP Network.
The Advanced course is intended to cover advanced discovery techniques, polling and how Root Cause Analysis works.
Daily Schedule
Fundamentals:
Day 1: Product appreciation, Basic Installation, Layer 3 Discovery
Day 2: Understanding Discovery, Topoviz GUI - Hop View & Network View, Advanced Installation techniques - including Discovery filtering
Day 3: Introduction to OQL, Discovery Agents, Active Object Classes - polling definitions
Day 4: Active Object Classes - polling definitions, OMNIBus Integration
Day 5: Configuration of Multiple Domains,Configuration of Precision Failover Servers, Configuration of Distribution Gateways.
Advanced:
Day 1: Rendezvous communication configuration, Advanced discovery techniques, Discovery Stitcher review, Discovery Stitcher manipulation
Day 2: Static connectivity stitching, Active Object Classes review
Day 3: AOC configuration, Monitoring - Overview of Polling Definitions, Polling Agents and Monitoring Stitchers, Monitoring - Compiled and Text Based Stitchers
Day 4: RCA Rules configuration - Building new rules
Day 5: RCA Rules configuration - Building new rules, Integrating new rule sets into current RCA calculations
Prerequisites
Fundamentals:
- UNIX and scripting experience essential
- Attendance in Netcool/OMNIbus Administration course (or relevant experience) is mandatory
- Knowledge of SQL and Database concepts beneficial
- Understanding of SNMP, TCP/IP, routing, switching and Network/Service Management highly beneficial
Advanced:
As above, plus...
- Attendance on the Fundamentals course is essential
