Eirteic Africa will offer a full line of consulting services including after-sales support to its clients and vendors. The new branch has a staff compliment of five including three highly skilled permanent technical consultants with additional resources available from the team of over 30 consultants through their international offices. Says Patrick Buttimer, CEO for Eirteic, "Our expansion into Africa via South Africa follows the company's new operation in Australia which services the Asia/Pacific region. Since the inception of the new branch, Eirteic Africa has worked tirelessly to grow the Eirteic brand and has made great strides in establishing our presence in the African marketplace. Establishing a South African-based office reinforces Eirteic's commitment to offer our consulting services globally and provides a springboard for the company into the rest of Africa." Heading up the South African branch is Birgit Smythe, Managing Director for Eirteic Africa, bringing a wealth of sales and network consulting experience, spanning both government and enterprises a like. Says Smythe: "South Africa has proved to be a growth point, particularly in the areas of networking and data consolidation as customers are increasingly relying on real-time, comprehensive management capabilities. Eirteic's consulting, teamed with their partner products, enables customers to ensure their IT-based services and business processes are continually available and performing at optimal levels. "In fact, even before opening the South African office, Eirteic was doing work in Africa, at Telekom Kenya, Safaricom in Kenya and has been involved in the installation at Telkom SA for a few years. Since opening the office, here we have been involved with a few major installations, one being for SA Post Office (SAPO) whom we were able to accommodate by working quickly to meet their tight time constraints. We have been sub-contracted in by prime contractors, to provide consulting services on various Micromuse Netcool projects." Mpafane Simani, Manager Networks Planning and Installation for SA Post Office says, "SAPO chose to install Cisco Info Center, which includes both Micromuse and Cisco Systems technology elements, specifically addressing our needs by allowing cost-efficient, proactive management of complex, heterogeneous networks. This enabled SAPO to collect data from various different systems and devices across its network into a single, central repository. From there the data is consolidated, analysed and displayed in web-enabled dashboards, enabling SAPO Systems Maintenance staff to quickly pinpoint potential faults on the infrastructure before they disrupt services. "Eirteic Consulting was chosen to deploy the system as they have a deep technical understanding of Cisco Info Center and Netcool, and we were impressed by how quickly their consultants translated the network requirements into configuration tasks. Calling upon Eirteic to assist in this project meant the design and deployment phase were completed within an aggressive implementation schedule." Eirteic Africa's main aim is to grow its share of the African market through the localisation of various aspects of its operations such as customer interface, training and sales.
