Systems Engineer - Cork, Ireland
This role provides the opportunity to:
- Work alongside experienced personnel in a flexible team environment;
- Further develop your systems skills, with a dedicated training plan to certification level;
- Take ownership of problems and liaise with Eirteic's customer through to senior management level; and
- Use your troubleshooting skills to solve complex problems.
The successful candidate(s) will have a strong background in Unix/Linux and excellent troubleshooting skills. Initially this role will be based in Cork woring as part of the Service Management Centre (SMC) support team, however as your skills develop you will be involved in project delivery working on one of Eirteic's many projects globally.
Responsibilities:
- System analysis and troubleshooting;
- Responsible for remote incident management and resolution for Eirteic's support customers;
- Providing regular status updates both to customers and internally within Eirteic;
- Maintenance Account Management. You will be the primary point of contact managing the relationship between Eirteic and one or more customers; and
- Providing On-Call support on a periodic basis.
The successful candidate will have most or all of the following skills:
- Unix/Linux skills and solid SQL knowledge;
- Ability to work under pressure and meet tight deadlines in accordance with Eirteic's SLA's;
- Knowledge of Perl, Awk or other scripting;
- Documentation Skills;
- Troubleshooting and problem solving;
- Strong communication skills. This role requires being able to communicate effectively with people at all levels within an organization; and
- Willingness to travel if/when required.
Desired Experience:
- Working background in some of the following EMC SMARTS, IBM Tivoli/Netcool, HP Openview, InfoVista or similar Network Management products;
- Database knowledge, preferably Oracle, DB2 or mySQL;
- Knowledge of Network Protocols, ideally TCP/IP, SNMP;
- Networking background to CCNA level or similar; and
- HTML, XML and Web Technologies.
